masks around the world

I chose this mask because I liked the colors of it. It caught my attention because it wasn't scary like the other masks that I viewed. I personally thought that many of the masks were odd looking and they were scary. I wouldn't of wanted to ever own any of the masks that were shown. This mask was an Indra and Himalayas mask. I think it's interesting that people would purchase masks such as these because I can't see many people wearing them in public. Some people may be interested in collecting masks for various reasons. 

The other mask I chose that was inspirational was the masks of different animals. I love animals, so I was interested in finding different masks of animals. From this selection of animal masks, I would choose the fox one. I this one really looks good and the details on it look exactly like a fox. I also find this mask to be cute since foxes are cute. If I had to have a mask I would choose to have animal masks because their point is obvious. When someone wears a mask like this, it is obvious they either have a love for animals, or want to look like this certain animal. Some of the other masks have different meanings that aren't so obvious. 

The last mask I chose is what is called a masquerade mask. Even though this mask only is the color white, it still has a lot of detail. I like these sort of masks because it still keeps the person wearing it face hidden. I really like this mask because I find it to be very pretty. It has more detail than one would thing. The lace on it and the studs around the eyes make it stand out more. It gives the mask more character that there is studs around the eyes. I also like how the outline of the mask is different from the rest of the mask. It looks like the outline are flowers. This mask is not like some of the other masks that cover someones entire face, but this is a mask that could actually be worn. Masquerade masks are common around Halloween and in certain plays or movies, such as A Cinderella Story. 

While creating my mask, I found it difficult to make it exactly how I pictured it in my head. I like how I used different colors with it. I think that it what makes a mask stand out more. I like the use of color in basically everything I do. Even though, sometimes black and white are just as nice. When thinking of my idea, I knew I wanted to combine an animal mask with a combination of a masquerade mask. I really like cheetah print, so I thought trying to create a mask that was cheetah print would be enjoyable and interesting to see how it turned out. If I was better at drawing, this may have turned out better. I had a different image in my head than what was created, but it was still the same idea that I had envisioned. I used the elements and principles in my finished work. I used shape and form because I had to make the cheetah print in certain shapes and put them in the correct location. I used the color of blue and purple because I think these colors look very pretty in a cheetah print. I had to use space while deciding where I should put each cheetah decide. My mask also shows pattern because it is a repetition of the same pattern, which is the cheetah spots. It was harder than I thought to make everything even and the same size of each other. Creating cheetah print is also a lot harder than it looks. I used a stuffed animal I have as a guide to follow the pattern. While I was creating my mask, I decided instead of making the entire mask cheetah I would use one half as cheetah and the other as zebra. I like both prints.
